Tips to make electronic gadgets last longer

In today’s era, most of the people are fond of their gadgets they use like cell phones, digital cameras, iPods, laptops, tablets and much more. You must be daily seeing many new gadgets arriving in the market, but it is not possible for you to purchase all these expensive tech toys especially when your previous gadget is working properly.

If you are also a gadget freak and can not resist purchasing the hottest new electronics, then you must also know the things that can be done to make your expensive gadget last as longer as possible.

Switch off the gadgets

A very simple thing many fail to do is to switch off the gadget when, not in use. If you cannot switch them off often, at least, make sure, the device is switched off when it is not in use for a long duration or there is much of idle time. The reason is that the power is drained when the device is not in use and, as a result, the efficacy of the device is lost when it is switched on.

Care for the battery

Take care of your battery by not charging the gadget once you see the battery mark diminishing as still it has enough charge to continue the chores. It is advisable to drain the battery at least once or twice a week and then charge it completely. The device continues to function perfectly as long as the battery is strong.

Protect the gadget with a cover

Most people end up in damaging the phones just because they are careless. When a phone or tablet is dropped, or too much of dust and dirt is accumulated, the device stops functioning. You can get the hazard out of the way by simply protecting it with a good cover so as to avoid common wear and tear. Moreover, it is not only important to protect the body of the device but also the screen. This is an exposed area in the gadgets like phone and tablet and hence requires good care. Covers for the screen are available in the market which can prevent the screen from shock and dirt.

Avoid extreme temperatures

Your gadget will not function properly if you often expose it to the extreme temperatures. You should refrain from doing the following, leaving the device in direct sunlight, keeping the device next to iron, oven, top of a vehicle, or any other hot surface. When you expose the gadget to such abnormal temperatures, you can witness that the screen gets locked, or there are interruptions in the functioning of the device, and the gadget may even stop working altogether.  It is not only the hot surface you need to bother but also the cold ones.

Close the apps

When you are not using any of the applications on your mobile phone or tablet, you need to close them. Even without your notice, few apps may be active behind the screen. Make it sure to close them too. Though you do not feel it a hindrance, but the apps actually are draining your battery.

Keep away from water

Make sure that you leave your mobile phone or tablet away when you enter the swimming pool or bathroom or even during steam baths. In case, the device is dropped into water, dry the device immediately after taking the battery out.

Clean device lasts long

Use microfiber cloths to clean the screen, and for the headphone, speakers and jacks use q-tip. Clean the gadget regularly and enjoy optimum performance.

Best way to Optimize and Save your Smartphone Battery

All of us are having the android devices nowadays, but the main issue of these devices are their battery life. As these devices have high-end processors and RAM and GPU’s due to which their consumption of battery increases and not even last for a single day, due to which we are having limitations of battery capacities on Android devices.

Because of this issue, there is an app named “Greenify” which is going to maximize your battery life and will make your battery last for longer period of time. Initially, when Greenify was first created and launched, it was not supported by the nonrooted phone. Last year, Greenify’s “Auto Hibernation” feature was made fully accessible and usable on non-rooted smartphones. Greenify was selected as Lifehacker’s Top 1 Utility in 2013 Best Android Apps and Android Authority’s Top 3 Best Root Apps . Its battery saving benefits can currently be used without having root access in the phone which is a great way to save the battery of the android device.

Auto-hibernation means you can hibernate the apps that are selected so they don’t run in the background and will automatically decrease the power consumption of the device. with the free version of the app there is a limitation too which is only apps from the Play store can be hibernated and not system apps can be hibernated, until the app is being upgraded to pro version by paying a certain amount of money to the vendor.

Now, we come to the main point which is how to use Greenify on any android device. So, let us start:

How to Use Greenify
  • Download the Greenify App from Google Play(Download)
  • Open Greenify ,press add apps.
  • Select apps that you wish to hibernate and press done.
  • From the list of running apps ,select apps for hibernation and click hibernate.
  • Press Force stop to manually hibernate. To automate click Enable Automation.
  • Select Greenify and enable it.
  • Go back to Greenify App press hibernate button again,
  • Now your apps are successfully hibernated.
  • To make hibernation easy you can create ( Hibernate now or Hibernate+lock) shortcut or you can try using Auto-hibernation Now (need to be enabled in experimental features setting and does not support all devices)
  • Next time you can click the shortcut on the home screen or Google Pull up” gesture on Home soft-key to hibernate.
This is going to be the best way to save the battery of your android device.

How to share files between Android , IOS & Windows ?

Hey guys finally the wait is over, when we think how we can share our Files, folders, images, music, videos on different OS (Operating systems), as in past it is not possible to share files from android to IOS without making a Jailbreak on IOS or by using Itunes on windows, but now you can share any files or folder or anything between any of these three platforms very easily and in some seconds without having any of the trouble.

BitTorrent, yes you have heard it right BitTorrent which is torrent client used to downloads different torrent files have made an app compatible with all these three platforms (Android , IOS & Windows), which will make you share any of the Files , image , video anything from one device to another just by scanning the QR code from other device using the app and it will transfer the content from one to another like we do it on android using different apps like Superbeam , Share it etc.

If you want to send any of the files to your friends, you can choose the file you wish to send and your phone will display a QR code. The person to whom you are sending the file to, the receiver, will have to scan the QR code, and the data will be transferred using the BitTorrent Sync Technology. Since Shoot is powered by the BitTorrent protocol, files move instantly between devices without going through the cloud, and hence, they are less likely to be hijacked. Also, they are transferred faster, regardless of the network of the connected device.

You may say that we have Bluetooth and other messaging apps that do not require the hassle. Well, Shoot’s two main winning points are:
  • It is easy to send large batches of media files to several devices at one time. There is no limit on the quantity of files that can be moved using the Shoot app.
  • Privacy, since nothing goes up on the Cloud service. That is, the files are only being accessed by you and the recipient – the company’s servers aren’t acting like a middleman in the process. Data is shared directly instead of requiring files to be uploaded to a central server and then downloaded by the recipient.
  • BitTorrent Shoot doesn’t require the two devices to be on the same Wi-Fi network, which is a plus.

You can download the app now directly from

Just for trial, you can send three files for free using Shoot. After this, you will be asked to pay a one-time fee of $1.99. Receiving is free. Though, this is how the app generates revenue (yes, Shoot does not show any ads.)

It will be interesting to see how QR codes work out in the future for exchanging data through different devices.

Check Radiation Level of Your Smartphone by USSD code

A life without smartphone? No one can think of without it. Smartphone has so much penetrated radiation level in our daily life. Excessive use of smartphone may cause health problems but if you are even using less a smartphone with bad SAR, that is most dangerous.

Here SAR stands for Specific Absorption Rate which is a measure of the amount of radio frequency energy absorbed by the body when using a mobile phone. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted limits for safe exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy which is 1.6 watts per kilogram (1.6 W/kg).  Any smartphone at or below this SAR levels is “safe” to use.

You can check Radiation level in terms of SAR of your smartphone by dialing a USSD code *#07#, if results shows SAR below 1.6 watts per kilogram (1.6 W/kg) then it is OK otherwise you are advised to change your smartphone immediately.

In addition to radiation level you must know about following important USSD codes to get more information of your smartphone.

Sometimes when typing in *#06# it will add an additional 2 digits at the end. The first 15 digits shown before any space or dash is your IMEI.
